【大.纪.元;12月23日讯】大.纪.元;记者从美国国务院高级官员那获悉：人权律师高智晟被控“煽动颠覆国家政权罪”，被判决三年监禁，缓刑五年。我们虽然高兴高律师不必面临铁窗，但是我们晓得缓刑期间高律师将面对很多法律限制，其中包括剥夺法律权利一年。

这位官员表示，美国国务院将继续关注[中共当局]处理高律师一案的严重不法性，特别是高律师的家人和他的律师均未被通知开庭时间，开庭时也未准到场。

就高律师一案，国务院已经向驻北京和华府的中共高级官员们表示忧虑，我们将继续监测高先生的情况。

有许多人们像高律师一样，努力的试图在中国的法制系统之内保护中国公民权利。我们相信这些行动将促进中国以法治国，因此他们应该得到喝采，而不应被压制。

We understand that human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng received a three-year sentence on charge of “inciting subversion” but that this sentence would be suspended for five years. While we welcome that Gao may not face a prison sentence, we understand that there are potentially onerous
restriction that come with the suspended sentence including one year suspension of his political rights.

We also continue to be concerned by what appear to have been serious irregularities in the handling of Gao’s case, we are particularly concerned by report that neither Gao’s family nor his legal counsel were informed of the trial or allowed to be present at the sentencing.

We have raised our concerns about Gao’s case with seniors Chinese officials, both in Beijing and in Washington. We will continue to monitor Mr. Gao’s situation.

Mr. Gao and others like him have been attempting to work within China’s legal system to protect the rights of their fellow citizens. These types of act, we believe, support China’s efforts to institute the rule of law. They should be applauded, not suppressed.(http://www.dajiyuan.com)
