夏日裡，在往桃園縣蘆竹的鄉下散步的途中都可以看到農田裡種植的一大片的向日葵花海。

種在田裡的大片大片向日葵花的確是很漂亮的。徐志摩先生說：「數大便是美。」確然，花的數量多到令人感到「壯大」，加上它的色澤又都是澄透的黃，一大片花海便成了一大片「黃海」，真是美不勝收。

在這幅畫裡，我們把向日葵花畫得精細些，其他的部份就隨意塗抹，使之收放自在。當然，畫面要美仍必須經過剪裁、加料，這樣才會是一張豐盈的作品。

In summer time, there is always great mass of sunflowers growing in a field beside the countryroad towards Luchu in Taoyuan County.

The masses of sunflowers are indeed extremely beautiful. As Xu Zhimo said, "A big quantity is itself beautiful." How true-the vast number of flowers gave the scene a majestic quality, and it had a very clear yellow hue. This sea of flowers was transformed into a "yellow sea," and there was more splendor than the eye could take in.

I painted the sunflowers with great care in this painting, but just casually scrawled in the other parts. I think it gives it a carefree look. Of course some selectivity and extra details were needed to make the painting beautiful-that's what it took to fill out the work.＠
