纣王是商朝最后的皇帝。他生性残暴，人们都怕他。
纣王喜与宠信不分昼夜地纵情享乐。

有一次，纣王忘记了今天是何天，就问宠信，可是他们也忘记了。因此，纣王便派人去问他的大臣箕子。

箕子私下对家人说：“如果贵为一国之君而不知今天是何天，这个国家危险极了。同样，如果众人不知而我独知的话，我也是危险极了。”

于是他告诉来使：“我因为喝醉了，所以也忘记了。”

A Pretence Of Ignorance

Emperor Zhou was the last emperor of the Shang Dynasty. Because he was the most ruthless man under the sky, everyone dreaded him.
Emperor Zhou and his favourite officials loved to indulge themselves by partying day and night.

One time he forgot what day it was and asked his favourite officials, but they, too, had forgotten, so he sent a messenger to ask Ji Zi, his minister.

Ji Zi told his family in private, "If the emperor of a country doesn't know what day it is, the country is in great danger. In the same way, if I know what the others don't know, I'm also in serious trouble."

So he sent word to the messenger, "Because I was drunk, I've also forgotten."
