幾年前，有好一陣子，我忙著用黑沙來做畫。讓細沙在紙上流滯，流成一些肌理，管它叫「流沙畫」。當時只是想玩一玩就好，因為它終究不是繪畫的正途。之後就荒廢不玩了。（我第五本專集就收錄了許多幅）。

最近，突然又想「重施故技」一番，拿起從前留存的黑沙來流一流看，已然力不從心，畫不成畫了。我想，用筆畫畫應該還是最正式的。其他如用樹枝、用木屑、用泥沙、用肥皂、用油、用玻璃……來作畫，新奇是有，但要畫出一個「氣候」來，怕是沒那麼容易的事。

There was a time, several years ago, when I made a few paintings using black sand. I let the fine sand flow onto the paper, giving the painting some texture. This is what is called "sand painting." I just played around with it in those days, because of course it really wasn't proper painting. Afterwards, I never made any more sand paintings. (There are many sand paintings in my fifth collection of paintings.)

I recently suddenly decided that I wanted to try it again. I picked up some black sand that I had happened to keep around, and tried pouring it. But as before, I couldn't make it do what I wanted, and I couldn't make a real painting. I think painting with a brush is still the right way to go about painting. Although you can use branches, wood chips, sand and mud, soap, oil, or glass, etc. to make a painting, and achieve a sense of novelty, it's not that easy to create successful dcvelopments using these materials.＠
