秋天來時，山上所有的植被，包括雜樹、菅芒草等，都變黃變紅了。

為了要表現這種低矮的草木植被，我們採用「毛巾」來拍打，使之有一種風吹草動的韻致。

以前我們去爬「草嶺古道」（由台北走到宜蘭頭圍），一路上看到菅芒草原就是這般景況。尤其是強風在「虎字碑」附近颳過， 草浪起伏，狀似驚濤巨浪，美不勝收。

這種有別於一般中國傳統山水皴法的表現，正足以呈現台灣特有的山林景致，也最能展現出台灣山野的情趣。

When fall comes, all the mountain vegetation, including many the trees and tall grasses turn red or yellow.

In order to express all the low-growing vegetation in the mountains, I commonly pat the paper with a towel, which produces the effect of grasses blowing in the wind.

We once took an excursion on the Tsaoling Historic Trail (we walked from Taipei to Touwei, Yilan County), and saw vast expanses of tall wild grass along the whole way. Especially where a strong wind was blowing near the Tiger-character Tablet, the grass was swaying in great waves, like billows on the sea, and it was a magnificent sight.

This texturing method, which differs from the methods typically used in traditional Chinese landscape painting, is very good at expressing the scenery in the mountains of Taiwan, and can convey the mood and beauty of Taiwan's wild mountains. ＠
