夕陽西下，充塞大地間的暮氣仍在發揮著它的餘威，把枯樹林及林內的屋宇都用朱紅色蓋罩起來。

沒有一絲風，連芭蕉葉也不稍拂動。沉悶的熱氣仍未散盡，燠熱難當，此刻出外活動，不消幾分鐘就會汗流浹背了。

還好，暮色夠美，也足以讓人們流連了。

鄉間，夏天的傍晚，如果沒風，悶熱，走在外面，幾公里之內找不到住家，沒有人影，單獨一個人，聽著蟬鳴，會有一種淒苦孤獨的感受。這種甚似寂寞無助的感覺，沒住過鄉下的人是體悟不出來的。

As the sun sinks in the west, the earth is still enveloped in gloom, and crimson tones cover the withered forest and houses in the woods.

There is not a breath of wind, and the banana leaves are completely still. Stifling heat is still rising from the earth, and the warm is hard to bear. Anyone going out at this time will be drenched in sweat within a few minutes.

Nevertheless, this evening scene was memorably beautiful.

On a hot, windless summer evening in the countryside, if you go out to where nobody lives within a few kilometers, and listen to the cicadas, all alone, you will experience a particularly lonely feeling. People who have never lived in the country cannot imagine this lonely, helpless feeling.@
