到婆羅洲島馬來西亞的沙巴省去玩，在沿海可以看到海濱住著千百戶的水上人家。他們用竹木鐵條構建房屋，並排搭在海面上，別有一番情趣。（回國之後，我便依此畫了一些「棚屋圖」。）
此畫中的河岸好美，在棚屋的後面簇生著一大片花叢，此刻那兒正開著爛熠的紫紅色花，花海的後面露出幾幢美好的瓦屋，和前面棚屋的景色相互比美。
When I took a trip to Sabah State in Malaysia, I saw countless people with houses on the water along the coast. These people keep their houses above the water on stilts made of bamboo, wood, or steel. It's quite an interesting feature. (After returning to Taiwan, I made a few paintings of houses on stilts based on this .)
The coast is beautiful in this painting, and there are masses of flowers growing behind the houses. Some glowing purplish-red flowers happened to be open at that time. Some attractive tile roofs can be seen behind the flowers, and they form an interesting contrast with the houses on stilts in the foreground. ＠
