我们去游西湖
总是丛山比肩环湖而立
总是“清风徐来，水波不兴”
总是数着白堤上的一株柳树一株桃（注一）
总是看见人们在苏堤上
翻来翻去地曝晒苏知州的政绩（注二）
总是“孤山不孤，断桥不断，长桥不长”
总是听到“花港观鱼”之类的妙事（注三）
只有镇不住白蛇的雷锋塔不见了
哦，多少美景古事奇情浪般涌来……
当我们去游湖
乘着游艇
注一：白堤所种树为一株柳树一株桃。
注二：苏东坡曾任临安（杭州）知州，为官清廉，颇有政绩，南宋时建苏堤以为纪念，长二公里八。
注三：“花港观鱼”为清康熙皇帝于1701年下江南游西湖时所题。鱼字的下半部是三点，不是四点。三点是水。四点是火。鱼在水中才能活，在火中则死。
注四：雷锋塔现又重新建造完成。

We are moving about on West Lake
In a pleasure boat
Ranges of mountains stand shoulder to shoulder round the lake
A cool breeze always blows over the calm water
On White Causeway each willow is next to a peach*1
People always talk of Su Dongpo’s achievements
In his political career on Su Causeway*2
“Lonely Hill isn’t lonely, Broken Bridge isn’t broken, Long Bridge isn’t long”
Some funny remarks such as “Watching Fishes at Flowers Port” are still heard*3
But Thunder Peak Pagoda has disappeared*4
Which couldn’t press down White Snake
Oh, lot of sceneries and ancient stories are flooding over like waves…

*1:Trees planted on White Causeway, each willow is next to a peach.
*2:Su Dongpo was once prefect of Lin’an(Hangzhou—today). He was an incorruptible official and had many achievements to his credit in his political career. So people built Su Causeway in memory of him in Southern Song Dynasty. Su Causeway is 2.8 Km in length.
*3:”Watching Fishes at Flowers Port” was written by Kanxi, 2nd emperor of the Qing Dynasty, when he toured West Lake in 1701. The low part of the word in Chinese are 3 dots but no 4 dots as usual wrote. He said that 3 dots .is water and 4 dots is fire. Only in the water fish will life and it will die in the fire.
