这儿描绘的是中国大陆四川的乡村景色。

多年前我和蔡友教授一群人赴四川九寨沟写生。在靠近成都一处名叫“黄龙溪”的地方待了半天，对着那儿的乡村写生。噫，说不尽的美啊！

秋天到了，稻子成熟了，平坦而有着不同色层的稻田在我们面前延展开来。微风拂过，稻穗便上上下下摆动起伏，像波浪似的，美极了。

小河这边的岸上长满了芒草（应该是芦苇），秋天一到，它们便忙着抽花长穗，露出灰白色的菅芒，随风俯仰，秋意浓得化不开。

This is a scene from the Sichuan countryside.

Many years ago I went with Professor Tsai You and some other people to sketch Jiuzhai Gorge in Sichuan. We spent around half a day at a place called Yellow Dragon River near Chengdu, and sketched the countryside. It was indescribably beautiful.

Fall has come and the rice has ripened. Flat, differently-colored rice fields stretch out in front of us. The rice spikes sway in waves when the breeze blows. It is extraordinarily lovely.

The banks of the small creek over here are covered with tall wild grass (they are actually reeds). In the fall the grass flowers, and the grayish-white tufts lean in the wind. There is a palpable sense of autumn in the air.＠
