Breakers/ink and color painting

Actually the name of this painting-"Breakers"-is the name of a very hearing-oriented shi poem.

Powerful breakers roar with a boom, The surging waves roll undersea rocks, which gives off a crackling sound. The majesty of the scene is both grand and mysterious. A great earthshaking sound is emitted when the waves strike the seawall.

Nevertheless, the most interesting thing is to be quiet and listen to the wind sighing in the pines. I taught at Chungli High School before I retired; at the high school was the site of an old Japanese jinja shrine at the colonial period. The campus was full of pine trees, and almost all of the old classrooms were shaded by pines. We could even touch some of the lower pine branches when we stood on the second-floor corridor.

When the weather was good, we could hear the soft, enchanting sound of the pines whenever there was the least bit of wind. The sound of the wind in the pines continued all day long, and I never grew tired of it.@
