古人說：「畫有常理無常法」，意思是說畫畫沒有一定的方法，不要有規範，想怎麼畫就怎麼畫，工細整齊或逸筆草草；大紅大綠或滲淡灰暗都不計較，任君揮灑。唯一不變的就是不能有違常理。

譬如說有人畫茄子，把它吊掛在宛如絲瓜藤蔓的末端，這是不對的。又如有人畫螃蟹，在螃蟹身上畫上魚鱗，那更是貽笑大方了，顯示他觀察寫生的能力不足。

The ancients said: "The painting has conventions but no permanent rules," means that no certain method to paint, no need regulation and specification, paint whatever you want to paint, fine and neat drawing or randomly scribble; it does not matter if it is bright red and green or gloomy gray, do whatever you want to do. The only constant is that you can’t go against conventions.

For example, someone paint eggplant but hangs it at the end of the loofah, so this is wrong. If someone draw a crab with scales on, it is even more ridiculous, showing his incapable of sketch observation.#
